This are the games currently supported by our Release.
When pressing auto find on server he will look for them and if found, add them to your game list.
Hoot installation on Windows is automated using a setup file. Install the Hoot client only using the Client_Setup executable file. Install the server using the Server_Setup executable file. Download the setup files from the download section of the Hoot website
Run the setup file as a user with administrative rights on the computer!
The name of the installer consists of the component name followed by the word "Setup" followed by a string that represents the build number. Official releases will have numbers only in the build string.
For example, an official client release setup file name might look like this: Client_Setup_313.exe.
The server setup installs the client as well.
Run the Client_Setup_xxx.exe file and follow the instructions.
While going through the installation steps you will have to press the "I Agree" button to accept the Hoot license agreement and choose a destination folder to install into. A default location is suggested. When the installation completes, press finish and the client is installed on your computer.
The installation process will add shortcuts for starting the client in the "Program" menu of the windows "Start" button under "Hoot" and on your desktop. Double-click the desktop shortcut or click the "Start Hoot client" shortcut on the "Hoot" "programs" menu to start the client.
Run the Server_Setup_xxx.exe file and follow the instructions.
While going through the installation steps you will have to press the "I Agree" button to accept the Hoot license agreement and choose a destination folder to install into. A default location is suggested.
When the installation completes, unless you uncheck the "Configure Hoot server" checkbox, pressing the finish button will open the Hoot control panel. The control panel can be used to add games to your game list by pressing the Auto Fing button.
If no password is set, the "Change Password" dialog will open before the control panel loads. Insert a password from 0 to 10 characters long (IMPORTANT - java Client doesn't support password).
You can open the control panel later from the "Programs" menu, from a desktop shortcut, and by left-clicking the server icon in the system tray.
The server will start automatically the next time you login because a shortcut was added to the "Startup" directory in the "Start/Programs" windows menu. To prevent the server from running automatically, delete the shortcut. To start the server, click the "Start Hoot server" shortcut in the "Start/Programs" menu or double-click the desktop shortcut.
Uninstall using Windows "Add or Remove Programs" or from the "Start/Programs" Hoot directory "Uninstall Hoot" link. In the uninstall process, you will be asked if you want to delete application settings as the password for the server and the last host name for the client.
Transfer the HootClient.Jar file to your Mobile.
Click it to Install(changes from phone to phone).
You can send it by Bluetooth, Cable or Connecting to the link in the download page with your mobile browser
(The Client can also be found in the hoot installed folder under hoot\bin\jclient)
There are only a few small steps
Send String - Sends a string to the game, for writing and operating Keys that are not mapped and rarely used.
Compression Quality - choose the image Quality.
There is a trade off between Quality and Frame rate.
Set Device ID - changes the device ID, will cause connection to close!
Show Keymap Name - Toggles the key map name.
Change Keymap - manually change of a keymap, for extra keymaps that are not connected.
ZeeMote Device - for phones with Bluetooth support.
ZeeMote is a small joystick like device we support in the client.
Exit - closes the client.
Key mapping is the way we translate the keys you press on your device to actual keyboard and mouse commands on your Hoot server.
The input-mapping configuration file of Hoot is in *Hoot Installation Directory*\config\*application name*.xml
Typically, for Sims, for example this will be:
C:\Program Files\Hoot\config\sims.xml
The key maps you are currently using were made by us.
When we tested hoot we found our own personal configurations, you might find something that you would find more comfortable.
Key maps are chosen by 2 variables:
1) Name of the game that was chosen.
2) Device ID you entered when logged in to the java client
The XML is made out of 2 main component:
1) commands - general game command like screen zoom or mouse jumps
you can set those to do specific things as you like (for example in a press of a button the mouse jumps to a position on the screen and clicks)
2) Device maps - for each device ID you can create a mapping that will suite your needs.
*A Key map can contain a few devices and for each device you can have many maps linked so you can change a map in a click of a button
The Help file will be added once the new Beta Version is up and will be located on the Downloads page
Configuring the server is done using the Hoot Server Control Panel.
There are several ways to start the control panel:
You can stop and restart the server right-clicking the server system tray icon.
Start the client by double-clicking the "Hoot client" desktop shortcut or the "Start Hoot client" link from "Start/Programs/Hoot/client/Start Hoot client" link.
Enter the computer name(as defined in server configuration) to connect to a Hoot server. remember the server name is unique and refers to your server only, its important that you did not get an error message when setting it.
Set the client's window height and width. The client will preserve the aspect ratio when scaling a picture.
Hit the OK button to connect.
When a connection to the server is established, the "Select Application to Run" window appears. Mark the application to run and press the OK button or double-click an applications to run.
The application opens up inside a window. The window caption is composed from the server name and the name of the running application.
Image quality can be set to Low, Medium, Good and Very Good from the options menu. The trade off is between quality and speed.
When the client window is active, keyboard and mouse input (while the mouse is within the window borders) is sent to the server. Some games hide the original Windows cursor, when Hoot server detects it, it will hide the cursor in the client. To get the window cursor back, use the Alt-Tab keys combination. You can hide or show the cursor using the Options/Cursor/Hide or Show.
By default, the server sends the audio from the server computer to the client. The Hoot server captures all the audio playing on the server computer not just the application sound. You can enable or disable sound using the Options/Audio/Mute or Unmute.
The Hoot client version can be displayed by opening the About box from the Help/About menu. To check for availability of a newer version use the Help/Check For Updates.
The recommended way to exit the client is to close the application using its own exit method. You can close the client using the File/Exit menu.
